Saint Mark is an active member of our community. Our current ministries include:
Interfaith Council of Homeless Families: Although our facility is too small to house homeless families our members do participate in this program by providing meals and visiting with the homeless families when they are housed in other local community churches.
Interfaith Food Pantry: We collect non-perishable food for the Interfaith Food Pantry. Place any items on the shelves outside the Fellowship Hall. We have started a Giving Garden in which members grow fresh vegetables to give to the Interfaith Food Pantry. Each year we are trying to increase the size of the plot and are looking for people interested in helping in this ministry. We practice organic gardening techniques.
Morris View Nursing Home: We conduct quarterly worship services at the nursing home facility for the residents.
New Jersey Synod of the ELCA: Our congregation attempts to participate in the various ministries run at the synod level in and outside of the State of New Jersey. Examples would include Haitian relief efforts, Coins for Children, the Heifer Project and others.
Other Social Ministries: St Mark tries to participate in other social ministries as well. For instance, we participate in the local Morristown Community Day event, sponsor by Neighborhood house. We provide games and prizes for the children. We have also contributed labor to construction projects for the Morris Habitat for Humanity. We are interested in helping in practically any way that a small congregation can help our community.
If you are interested in participating in any of the events listed above, more information can be found on the bulletin board in fellowship hall or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
